Give Yourself a Break

Hello and welcome to summertime! (How did we land in July already?)

I hope you have made time for disconnecting from the day-to-day and have found renewed energy in whatever way you relax.

In early June, I took some much-needed time to connect with friends and, most importantly, myself. Long talks, long walks, great food, and long sleeps. Mmmmmm. Taking a break from work isn’t just about having fun; it’s about caring for yourself both physically and mentally. We need, and deserve, time to let go of the calendar full of appointments, calls, and meetings, even when work fulfills us and is purposeful. We need to quiet our minds and reconnect with the people and activities that also give meaning to our lives.

If you haven’t blocked time on your calendar for you, I challenge you to do so today and don’t let anything get in the way of your time.

It has been some time since my last newsletter. My team and I have been focused on several exciting things that I want to share with you, things that I hope you will find interesting and beneficial. There is a lot of information and opportunities in this edition that I hope you will take advantage of.

First, we have been updating my website to expand on the leadership assessments that Morningstar Ventures offers and that I use regularly in my work with leaders. If you have worked with me on a one-on-one basis, if I’ve facilitated a team transformation session for your group, or if you’ve participated in a Two 3s Group Coaching Program, you are familiar with at least one of these incredible development assessments. I have been a longtime partner and avid fan of Everything DiSC Catalyst, which includes several types of assessments to meet your leadership needs or those of your team. Typically, I make a recommendation specifically for the work we’ll be doing together, and you may not realize there are other opportunities for you and your team to take part in. On my updated website, I provide a full array of assessments that are available to you, which may spark some ideas for you, a team member, or your entire team. There is an expansive description of each, with sample reports and video demos for your review. I hope you will click through the offerings, then we can discuss the best approach for you. I know something will pique your interest.

Second, I am expanding my What Leaders Need Now Leadership Assessment research through the use of focus groups. In collaboration with Jack Skalican, now a member of my team, we are planning a deep dive into the survey data. We will host several virtual focus groups and present written findings. If you are interested in learning more about the focus groups and potentially being a part of one, please reach out with your interest. And, if you have not yet taken the survey, I would appreciate 8 minutes of your time to complete the anonymous What Leaders Need Now Leadership Assessment.

I encourage you to make your summer productive and gratifying, not only in your work, but for yourself and your loved ones.
